"The Future of Healthcare: Leading Change to Deliver Value"

Mark McClellan, M.P.A., M.D., Ph.D., Senior Fellow, AEI-Brookings Joint Center for Regulatory Studies and former administrator for CMS

During this presentation, Dr. McClellan discusses how the U.S. is at a unique crossroads regarding its healthcare system. As research breakthroughs result in potential cures and better treatments, patients and health professionals are frustrated by bureaucracy and other factors that drive up the costs and availability of beneficial healthcare. Drawing on his experience as an M.D. and on his Ph.D. in Economics, Dr. Mark McClellan reviews the trends in the U.S. healthcare system, explaining how these trends can potentially transform the healthcare landscape. He provides audiences with insight on the issues that complicate improvements in care, and outlines specific steps — such as transparency of the system and "ownership" by its users — that public and private sectors should take to promote better care now and in the future.
