100 Top Hospitals®: National
Benchmarks for Success — 2004

Introduction

This is the 12th edition of Solucient's 100 Top Hospitals®: National Benchmarks for Success. The primary goal of this program is to objectively identify hospitals that are the highest performers in the nation, and to make public the bar that has been set for hospital performance each year.

Another goal has been to develop board and executive scorecards that reflect the complexity of hospitals and the organizational inter-relationships that affect delivery and outcomes of care and financial health.

Healthcare leaders must embrace public performance reporting, and create messages that share their successes with the people in their communities. This study supports these efforts by providing results in two forms: consumer-friendly and epidemiological.
