A number of national studies will be performed each year by the Solucient Institute to create clinical benchmarks and norms. The goal is to improve the quality of care for patients across the nation.

Solucient published the results of its first national research project from the 100 Top Hospitals Clinical Database in 1999. This study  represented the use of traditional epidemiological methods to measure variances in detailed clinical treatment at award-winning hospitals and create benchmarks for clinical treatment across different types of hospitals in different geographical areas. One of the program's goals is to enable participating hospitals to use the results for community health care education and to improve the quality of care.

Additional studies will be performed to create new levels of clinical benchmarking and facilitate clinical analysis and epidemiologic research across thousands of patients.
