To acknowledge the specialization of the orthopedic
services field, we have compiled four separate lists of top orthopedic hospitals. The
first list comprises the 100 top orthopedic hospitals overall. There
are also separate lists for teaching hospitals, hospitals with
orthopedic residency programs and community hospitals.

This study is based solely on objective,
quantitative data that are consistent and complete across the United States. This
methodology ensures that the focus is on statistical rather than anecdotal evidence of top

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE KEY FINDINGS?
By studying Medicare patients who received
orthopedic care in 1998 and 1999, we found a direct correlation between the volume of patients
